Salem Co-operative Bank on behalf of its philanthropic foundation, Salem Community Benefit, donated $15,000 to Bread & Roses, located in Lawrence, MA.
Bread & Roses was founded in 1980 to address hunger and hardships in the community. Their mission “is to address the core necessities of the Merrimack Valley’s community members with a holistic and welcoming approach focusing on food insecurity and promoting self-empowerment”. Bread & Roses reaches community members who may not meet the restrictions of other agencies. In addition to food, they also provide essentials such as clothing, toiletries, bedding, pet food, diapers and infant formula.
Our team in the Methuen branch held a food drive in October. Therese Chahine (2nd from right) and Shaena Sandoval (right) delivered the items collected when they presented the Salem Community Benefit check to Bread & Roses. We hope that our donations will help to make a substantial difference in the lives of those in need.
